ORD — After completing work on the track at Ord high school this summer, the next item to be replaced is the shot put ring.
The idea is to work on it this fall, once the softball season ends, and reorganize how events are set up. Specifically, placing all the throwing events in the same area. Superintendent Jason Alexander says that could make Ord a more attractive site for events.
“So it really is a project that would have a substantial difference on being recommended to host events, especially with our new track,” he said . “We would probably be in the running to host more district events if that were the case and it also creates a better situation for our throwers who also act as runners.”
As far as the price, the sports boosters are in for $7,000, but with donations and sponsorships, the school is optimistice it can complete the project for less.
