ORD — The construction process is underway at the future site of Shopko along with the Cobblestone Inn & Suites and convention center in Ord.
A crowd arived to the site to hear from economic development, Oppidan Investment Company, Shopko and Cobblestone representatives and Lieutenant Governor Mike Foley all to celebrate the opportunities this could bring to the area. Valley County Economic Development Board President Gaylord Boilesen thinks this process shows what the area is capable of.
“We need a lot of help,” he says. ” [There are] some businesses we got to replace, The ED office is over there and use it if you have ideas.”
“We’d love to hear them because we need to fill those businesses.”
Both businesses will be located at the Trotters Whoa & Go Subdivision off of Highway 11 toward the south of Ord. The hope is that each will be up-and-running by the middle of 2016.
