ORD — The end of October brings the end of a charity drive at Ord Elementary. However, this isn’t your trypical drive.
Instead of a traditional project, the kids are collecting socks. Principal Doug Smith says the group normally does a food drive or something similar in October.
“We wanted to switch it up a little bit this year,” he said. “They got kind of creative with ‘Socktober’ and we contacted the food pantry and there was a specific need for socks so we just called it ‘Socktober’ and went with it.”
The drvie was a big success for Ord. The goal was five hundred pairs, which was exceeded with about a week to go.
