OMAHA — A lawsuit has been tossed that challenges the legality of a Canadian company’s attempt to obtain the governor’s approval for the Keystone XL pipeline.
The Holt County judge agreed with the argument from TransCanada Inc. that the issue was rendered moot after the company decided not to go forward on the project in the immediate future.
The oil company gain approval from then-governor Dave Heineman in 2013, but landowners argued that the governor didn’t have that kind of power.They wanted to challenge the law in case TransCanada attempted to gain gubenatorial approval for the project again in the future.
