ORD — In the two weeks since Richanda Hurt died in an accident south of Ord, the outpouring of support has been remarkable.
That from her family who writes in a letter that they are thank full and appreciative for the generosity and thoughtfulness in wake of the accident.
Here’s a transcript of the letter:
- “We are so thankful for everyone who has shared their love, their memories, their tears and their donations. We are so glad Shawn touched so many people’s lives with her sense of humor and a caring ear.
- Thank you to Misty & the DG crew for the fundraiser and being there throughout, the gentleman who saw the accident happen and stayed with her, and all the personnel who tried to save her that night.
- We love you all and thank you for the outpouring of love and generosity.

The Scotia woman was driving on Route 11 near the ethanol plant on November 29th when her vehicle went off the road. Rescuers removed the car from the grass partition between the railroad and highway.
Hurt later died at Valley County Health System. She was 32-years-old.
