LINCOLN — After an effort by Governor Ricketts to buy lethal inject drugs failed, his office is attempting to get the money back.
The state dished out more than $54,000 to a supplier in India.
The governor has told the corrections department to review the purchase. The effort was blocked because the drugs attempted to be purchased were not approved by the federal government.
Ricketts announced last week that he would no longer attempt to buy the drugs needed to perform lethal injections until a statewide vote next November decides if capital punishment will be abolished.
