ORD — Part of the opening of the Golden Husk in Ord has been an effort to make the marquee sign light up, again.
The Valley Performing Arts Theatre group has placed importance on fixing the sign to maintain a symbol for downtown.
“It just points to a really vibrant downtown area and it drew people to that particular venue,” says Janie Zadina, a member of the theatre board. “That, of course, is what we want again. For people to be drawn to, and excited about, the theatre.”
Some work has been done. The group has spent about $1,850 in repairs, thus far. That leaves them about halfway to their goal. “It’s anticipated that probably another $2,000 will bee needed to replace the bulbs in the sign,” Zadina explains.
The hope is that money can be raised through donations and upcoming performances. One of those notable performances is the Golden Husk’s Valentine’s Day event. The dinner and theatre night is set for February.
