BURWELL — With Christmas in full force, folks in Burwell held a mobile food pantry to give back.
The GLW Children’s Council led the event with the help of student volunteers from the Youth Advisory Board. All of this offers Trisha Crandall and company an opportunity to help the community.
“There’s a huge need,” she explains. “The mobile food pantry has been in Bartlett and Taylor and it’s in Burwell today and we filled 65 Christmas boxes yesterday so we’re going to make sure most of them, that we can find, will get a box.”
The items varied from canned food s to fresh produce to frozen meat all via the Food Bank of the Heartland in Omaha.
An exact number of those helped wasn’t immediately available, however, GLW expected about 70 families and were prepared for as many as would come.
