COLUMBUS — The Loup Public Power District is hoping its new contract with NPPD will increase wind and other renewable energy projects.
The deal increases the percentage of power it can purchase from renewable sources. This allows LPPD to add turbines to current wind farms and opened the option to purchase power from a hydroelectric plant.
The Loup Public Power District serves Boone, Nance, Platte, Colfax and part of Madison County.
