LINCOLN — For the fifth straight month, figures have dropped in a survey of supply managers in Nebraska’s region of the country.
That provides evidence that an economic slowdown is continuing.
The overall Mid-American Business Conditions Index dropped in December to 39.6 from 40.7 in November. A score above 50 suggests growth, while below shows decline. That number has decreased steadily since August, when it stood at 49.6.
Organizers of the Creighton University study continue to blame manufacturing losses connected to a strong U.S. dollar and economic weakness among trading partners.
