LINCOLN — A proposal in Nebraska legislature would amend a state law to allow law enforcement to pull someone over for not wearing a seat belt.
The change would alter the infraction for someone not wearing their seat belt from a secondary to primary offense.
Current Nebraska law allows police to ticket drivers who aren’t buckled up, but only if they had been pulled over for something else first.
A similar proposal died during debate in 2014.
