LINCOLN — Nebraska lawmakers have rejected an effort to make their committee leadership votes public.
Senator votes on bills and amendments are released, but choices on legislative leaders are kept secret.
Legislators say a reason to keep them quiet is to discourage splitting across party lines and makes it easier for lawmakers to make choices based on what they believe rather than worry about breaking from their party.
