ORD — There’s a vacancy on the Ord Board of Education after Heather Sikyta resigned from her position.
The group accepted the resignation this week. Now, a replacement will take the spot until the November election. That’s when they will have a chance to be voted to a permanent position
As for the new member, the Board is looking for someone who is familiar with the district and issues facing it. “One thing I’ve always struggled with on appointments is appointing someone who has neither attended a meeting nor we know nothing about,” explains member Dawn Skibinski.
“When somebody runs through an election, you have an opportunity to ask them questions prior, attend the meeting, you have that opportunity.” she adds.
That’s part of the reason why the board is going with a long-form application to find the new member. It’s not bound to any process in finding a replacement, just as long as they do find one.
