LINCOLN — A bill has been introduced in the Nebraska Legislature that would give adults suffering from a terminal illness the right to end their life with a doctor’s assistance.
The patients would be permitted to self-administer an aid-in-dying drug prescribed by their doctor. The request could come orally or in writing with a signed statement by two witnesses. At least one of those can’t be related to the patient and could not benefit from his or her estate.
It would also only apply to those believed to have six months or less to live.
