ELBA — It can hold about 24 pancakes, nearly 60 links of sausage and helps feed a whole bunch of people.
Folks manned the homemade griddle at this weekend’s pancake feed in Elba to help benefit the Community Foundation along with the Fire & Rescue Squad.
The griddle was rigged together by some of the organizers and really helps make this whole event possible. Tony Morrow, of the Fire & Rescue Squad, says it’s all about the mechanized disc that helps the food spin while it cooks. “it’s on a big rotary wheel and we have to cook it [outside] because it gets too hot in here,” he says.
“The original pancake griddle was actually donated and then we modified it because it was needing some work,” Morrow adds.
As for the event, the proceeds go to maintain the Elba Community Center and assist with finances for the Community Foundation and Fire & Rescue squads. That includes any equipment purchases that might be necessary.
