BARTLETT — For another year, folks in Wheeler County took part in the Bartlett Lion’s Club Groundhog Supper.
Since 1962, people have come to meet, talk and, of course, check out some groundhog.
The event started as a celebration every Groundhog Day and Dave Collins, of the Lion’s Club, says it’s still a great way to get together.
“I’ve been here for 35 years and I spent time here when my parents were charter members of the Lion’s and I was young,” Collins explains.” “It’s a place for people to come and talk, who don’t see each other during the year.”
As for the proceeds from the event, those are split four ways. 50% goes to the Lion’s Club, 20% to the FCCLA, 20% to the FFA and 10% to the Ladies Auxiliary. All of those groups use it to better the community throughout the year.
