HASTINGS — Blizzard conditions are coming across central Nebraska early this week.
The snow is expected to begin Monday evening and continue through Tuesday. Six to 12 inches are expected from the Hastings area traveling north to Valley and Greeley Counties. The blizzard is moving on a north-east directional line.
The intensity of the storm will be the worst toward the south and get lighter as it goes north.
Mike Moritz of the National Weather Services in Hastings says though folks in the Greeley/Ord/Burwell area may be in the lighter part of the storm, they should still take precaution. “Even if you get three or four inches in that area, you’re still going to have the strong winds and we know what that’s like, that’s still a big problem,” he explains.
“Don’t focus so much on the snow amounts, necessarily, but the impacts of the snow and wind combination,” Moritz adds.
Those winds could be upwards of 30 miles-per-hour in some areas. Drivers are encouraged to use caution on the road ways. Be sure to keep it tuned to V-103.9 FM and The Mighty 1060 AM for the latest weather updates and any change in the direction of the storm.
