OMAHA — A federal judge has formally issued an injunction striking down Nebraska’s negated ban on same-sex marriage.
The decision was largely a formality after the Supreme Court legalized gay marriage on a federal level in June.
The State’s Attorney claimed this was unnecessary because they had cooperated with the ruling since the Supreme Court’s decision.
On the other side, several same-sex couples argued the opposite because of last year’s attempt by the state to exclude the names of both parents on children’s birth certificate.
