LINCOLN — A proposal in the Nebraska Unicameral would create a state fund to cover charges for victims of sexual assault after they report.
Advocates for these survivors says some have mistakenly received statements for medical costs, even though a federal law prohibits this.
The measure would ensure that doesn’t happen.
The fund would use a pool of private, state and federal money to pay for up to $200 of the examiners fee and up to $300 for the examination facility.
