HASTINGS — A Hastings company will send the first shipment of beef to Israel after the nation’s 12-year ban on importing the product was lifted.
In 2003, Israel stopped accepting beef due to confirmed cases of mad cow disease in the United States.
In a statement, U.S. Senator Adrian Smith said he hopes this opens the door for Nebraska to gain more trading partners.
The company is WR Reserve. There’s no word on how large the shipment will be.
