LINCOLN — A report from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services gives reason for concern over a proposal to insure thousands of low-income residents with Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.
A consultant found the state would pay just under $1 billion over a 10-year period.
This would cover about 74,000 uninsured, low-income residents and also assist about 50,000 that either have employer-sponsored insurance or are deemed medically frail.
Supporters say a boost in the insured would grow the state economy, while opponents argue the plan is financially unsustainable.
