HASTINGS — Last week’s announcement that Israel is ending a 12-year ban and accepting beef exports is getting praised in Washington from Nebraska lawmakers.
Sen. Deb Fischer expressed excitement for the announcement, especially with the first shipment coming from Hastings. “As we know, Nebraska’s beef producers are the best in the world and this agreement is a testament to their hard work and the quality products that they produce,” she says.
The ban was put on beef from Nebraska and other states in 2003 due to confirmed mad cow disease in the U.S.
Representative Adrian Smith added that he hopes this opens the door for Nebraska to gain more trading partners.
