GREELEY — A couple of area schools are adding softball for next season.
Central Valley and Centura will co-op after both Board of Education’s approved the move. Centura was looking for a partner in the sport and Central Valley had interest from several students.
Administrators say it’s good to be able to offer something that interests students. “They were really excited,” says Central Valley AD Annice Marlow. “One of the girls came in and she asked me ‘Are we adding softball?’ and I said ‘Yes, we are’ and she’s like ‘Oh my dreams have come true'”.
About 19 students between the two districts are interested for the fall season. As far as where the team will play, that is still being worked out. North Loup and Cairo are two possible locations.
Marlow added that nearby Ord, St. Paul and Central City all having the sport makes scheduling easier.
