FULLERTON — It was a daunting experience for Fullerton girls basketball in the state tournament last year.
The school was there for the first time since 2004 and Head Coach Stacy Kramer says the moment was a lot to handle. “The game before us was Friends-St.Mary’s, last year, and it came down to the wire and it was very, very loud,” she explains. “Even with the door closed, you could hear the crowd inside the locker room like you were out there.”
“I remember looking at the girls’ faces. They were pretty wide-eyed,” Kramer adds.
The team fell in the first game against Blue Hill, but now four seniors are ready to hit the court and use last years experience as a launching point for the weekend.
“They are experienced, they’re dedicated, they come to practice every day,” Kramer says. “I really feel if I wasn’t there and I told the seniors what I wanted done that they would do it and execute it and make sure the rest of the team followed suit.”
As for the D-1 Bracket, it’s not an easy one. Fullerton comes in 24-1, but its the three-seed entering Thursday. “I think it can be any ones tournament this year,” Kramer says. “That’s what I told the girls. I thinks its a good representation of the class and we have as a good of a chance as anyone to play in that big game on Saturday.”
The team’s first matchup is against BDS on Thursday from Lincoln Northstar. You can hear the action beginning at 9:00 A.M. on The Mighty 1060 AM and KNLVRadio.com
