ORD — Sixth graders at Ord Elementary had a chance to show the community a bit of history this week.
The class invited the public to come by and see the finished results as they transformed themselves into a historical figure for the annual 6th Grade Wax Museum.
It’s all part of an effort for Erin Craven’s class to dive deep into the life of people like Neil Armstrong or William Wallace. “They love it,” she explains “It’s always intimidating to them at first because it’s such a big thing for a sixth grader to write a paper, but, by the time they really get going, they just embrace it and go with it.”
“I have kids from years past that come back and always talk about it,” Craven adds.
In addition to coming up with the costume and writing a paper, the kids learned a monologue about the characters and presented the life of the figure through a diorama.
