LINCOLN — A measure is working its way through the Nebraska Legislature that would expand problem-solving courts in the state.
The bill won first-round approval this week.
The specialty courts are designed to help veterans, people with mental health problems and those with addictions. This kind of treatment has grown in popularity throughout the country as a way to address the underlying behavior of illegal activity.
Currently, Nebraska has more than 15 adults and juvenile drug courts in operation.
