LINCOLN — Lawmakers in Lincoln have sent a proposed budget out of committee and to the floor for debate.
The legislation gives the state $8.7 billion to spend in the next two years. It will mainly focus on prison reforms, roads and flood protection and rely heavily on the state’s cash reserve.
Supporters say this is for long-term investments, but opponents worry the state is spending too much.
