ORD — Farmers and ranchers would see property tax relief under a bill gaining support in the legislature.
A measure passed unanimously in the revenue committee that would allocate more state revenue to an agricultural tax credit. The hope is to have this offset some local property taxes.
There would also be new budget restrictions on community colleges, which rely partially on property taxes for revenue.
The committee will next hold a public hearing on the proposal on March 24th.
