ELYRIA — This weekend at Fort Hartsuff is the Spring Muster.
Reenactors will be at the camp from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon to live as soldiers did in the 1870’s. This includes cooking, drilling and even a war reenactment.
Shane Johnson is one of the reenactors and says Fort Hartsuff is great for this kind of event. “It’s a true treasure for the state, there’s no question of that,” he says. “It’s awfully kind for the Game and Parks Commission and folks out at the fort that maintain it and run it to allow us the opportunity to come out and use the buildings, use the grounds kind of helping to recreate the past and then allowing the public to coming in and see it all, as well.”
Things get going on Saturday at 9:00 A.M. with the presentation of the colors and continue until 3:00 P.M. on Sunday.
The public is invited to attend all events throughout the weekend.
