LINCOLN — Changes could be coming to how Nebraska congressional and legislative districts are drawn.
A bill has won final approval in the legislature despite an effort by conservative lawmakers to filibuster.
The measure would create an independent redistricting commission to draw the state’s political boundaries, which lawmakers and the governor would have to approve.
Currently, a legislative committee proposes new maps every ten years, after the census.
Governor Ricketts has not said publicly whether he supports the proposal.
