LINCOLN — Lawmakers have overidden Governor Ricketts veto of a bill that would allow certain immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children the right to certain professional licenses.
This allows them to work in health care, education and dozens of other professions in the state.
The law applies to immigrants who were granted temporary legal status and the right to work under a 2012 federal policy.
Supporters say this will help fill jobs in a state where companies struggle to find workers. Ricketts said the policy is unfair to the legal immigrants who follow the citizenship process.
