GREELEY — The pool in Greeley is in need of work and a group is looking to raise money for rennovations.
The skimmers stopped working last year and additional plumbing and concrete work needs to be done to fix the issue at the 51-year-old pool.
The estimated cost of this work is between $40,000 and $50,000.
Jordan Foltz helps run the effort and says a meeting several weeks ago show a lot of interest from the community to help out. “It was just kind of a private, spread the word meeting to see who all shows up,” he says. “We didn’t know who was going to show up and we had probably 40 to 50 people show up who were all in support of it.”
“We were thinking we might run into some opposition with the town board, but it sounds like everybody on the town board was actually on board with this,” Foltz adds.
The plan is to have the pool open for part of this year before the work takes place. This can be done with portable skimmers and, hopefully, get through Memorial Day and Greeley Days.
For now, the goal is to get quotes and plan for the major work to begin in August.
Donations are able to be dropped off at the First National Bank and Henderson State Bank in Greeley. In addition a gofundme page is up and running online.
