ST. PAUL — Two are vying for the District 2 Commissioner Seat in Howard County during Tuesday’s primary election.
Rance Lierman will go up against Gary Rasmussen on the Republican ticket.
For Rasmussen, who was commissioner from 2001 to 2009, one area of county government is his major focus. “Roads, roads, roads,” he explains.
“The roads just haven’t been attended to and taken care of in due fashion,” Rasmussen adds.
Lierman is the incumbent and says two issues, more than others, are important for the county to take bcare of. “It always seems to turn back to roads and we have some projects that are unfinished that I would like to see get done,” he says. “We continue to try to work on our economics to keep the tax levies down.”
The road projects Lierman mentioned was Rose Road, off of Highway 92, that may pose a traffic hazard.
Voting in Howard County and across central Nebraska runs from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday.
