ORD — Valley County plans to look into positives and negatives of applying for the livestock friendly designation.
The state certification is give after a county apply and meets zoning standards that are welcoming to the livestock industry.
Currently, there are no funding benefits to going livestock friendly. However, it is a message to out-of-state companies that the county may be favorable to set up in. On the other side, some worry this might lead to less county control in the future over what industries come into the jurisdiction.
The Valley County Board of Supervisors plans to discuss the possibility further at its May 31st meeting.
