LINCOLN — An Omaha man has filed a lawsuit to ban the release of balloons at Memorial Stadium after Nebraska scores its first points during a game.
Randall Krause claims in his federal case that the release results in the open dumping of solid waste and his barred by the 1976 Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
The lawsuit says the balloons become solid waste the moment they are out of sight the of the fans and pose a threat to wildlife and children.
Krause seeks an injunction that would keep the university from promoting the balloon release.
