Joceylyn M. Nordin made a court appearance in Valley County Court on Monday May 16th at 10am. Nordin appeared in front of Judge Broadbeck . Nordin’s attorney requested her to have her bond reduced. But the judge said because of her prior history, including child abuse and subsequent incarceration, that Nordin’s bond be set at One Million Dollars, and she is to have no contact with anyone under 18 years of age. Her attorney said she didn’t pose a risk to anyone, but the Judge disagreed and said she presents a risk to children.
Nordin’s next court appearance will be at district court, June 6th at 1pm. Nordin will be have a court apppointed attorney.
Nordin has been charged with felony child abuse resulting in death, which carries a maximum of life in prison and a mandatory minimum of 20 years in prison, in conncection with the death of her one month old daughter, Elayna Rose Nordin Sherman.
