LINCOLN — Custer is among the Nebraska counties that stand to benefit the most in a trade agreement between the United States and 11 Pacific Rim nations.
Governor Ricketts joined various agricultural groups to tout the benefits for the state through the trans-pacific partnership. A coalition found the deal would increase state cash receipts by $378 million annually from the sale of agricultural products.
In addition to Custer; Platte, Dawson and Lincoln Counties are set to experience the most benefits, but every county should see gains.
Ricketts says that’s because law tariffs would help Nebraska expand its relationship with Japan, which is one of the its biggest trade partners.
Several agricultural groups in Nebraska are calling for congress to ratify the agreement.
