ARCADIA — The Valley County Health System Board has endorsed a move for the hospital to extend its clinic operations into Arcadia.
The village expressed interest in having the hospital come at its May meeting.
Arcadia was being served by the Broken Bow Medical Clinic, which is closing at the end of June. Another clinic in Broken Bow is interested in serving the area, but may be leaving soon due to a lack of resources.
That resource question was an initial concern for VCHS, but CEO Nancy Glaubke feels that the hospital has a plan. “We think that we can handle that,” she explains. “The providers are okay with it. We do want to make sure that we are not spreading ourselves to thin, but I think if we wait until Dr. (Gregory) McClanahan comes, I think we will be okay.”
The Dr. McClanahan arrival will bring the total number of providers for VCHS to nine.
If no other issues arise, the hope is to begin serving the Arcadia Clinic no later than September.
