FULLERTON — A man accused of trying to kill his pregnant girlfriend has taken a plea deal in Nance County District Court in Fullerton.
Court documents show Charles Campsey III pleaded no contest to felony assault. He was originally facing charges of attempted murder and five other crimes.
A woman reported Campsey attacked her while intoxicated with a pitchfork last August at a campground. She says she evaded the weapon, but he threw beer cans at her then punched, kicked and dragged her until she was unconscious.
The woman came to in a hold in the ground, where, she says, Campsey was trying to bury her.
He’s scheduled to be sentenced on June 13th.
