ORD — The Valley County Board of Supervisors will likely be waiting at least two more weeks to see if a railroad issue will continue to hinder an effort to pave and relocate a local road.
The 811th Road sits off of Route 11 between Ord and North Loup. The county conducted a survey last year as part of a paving effort with a new business causing more truck traffic in the area. The survey found the road was off of its intended line and is supposed to be shifted south.
The county received what it believes is the wrong agreement with the railroad, in which it would pay the cost to have the crossing moved and for any maintenance. The cost to move it is about $70,000.
This all happens as the board thought the county survey, Olsson Associates, was dealing with the railroad since last fall.
The county hast to wait for more information from Union Pacific before more work can be done in the area.
