YORK — A man accused of unemployment fraud has taken a plea deal in York.
Timothy Ballard, 50, allegedly filed weekly claims with the Nebraska Labor Department during a sixty-week period from 2012 to 2015. He reported no earnings in that time, but was actually paid during 32 of those weeks. The state says the York man received nearly $8,000 in benefits for which he was ineligible.
The York man pleaded no contest in exchange for a lowered theft charge. He is set to be sentenced on July 25th.
