ORD — A plea deal has been reached between an Ericson man and the Valley County Attorney for charges related to an accident last month.
Tucker Tonniges, 20, agreed to plead no contest to charges of motor vehicle homicide and careless driving in exchange for the county attorney to stand silent on sentencing.
Tonniges was driving on Route 11 north of Ord on May 24th when he struck bicyclist Gregg Jensen, of Ord, with his pickup. The 67-year-old was killed in the accident. According to documents revealed in court, Tonniges told authorities he was looking at an adjacent field and did not see Jensen.
He could face up to one year in prison or a $1,000 fine and is scheduled to be sentenced on July 18th.
