ORD — The North Loup woman charged with felony child abuse resulting in death has waived her right to a preliminary hearing.
Jocelyn Nordin, 25, was not physically in the courtroom in Valley County, but submitted a written waiver.
Nordin was arrested in May after calling 911 and reporting four-week-old daughter was not breathing. The child was brought to Valley County Health System and then to Methodist Hospital in Omaha, where she died.
After initially saying she accidentally dropped the baby, Nordin admitted to shaking and dropping her because the infant would not stop crying.
The charge carries a sentence ranging from 20 years to life in prison. Nordin’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 21st.
