Valley County Health System (VCHS) Hospice is sponsoring
free grief support classes from June 21 July 26, 2016, for adults
who have lost a loved one. The classes will meet six consecutive
Tuesdays from 7 8:30 p.m. at the VCHS Home Health/Hospice
building at 400 S. 23rd
St., Ord.
In learning to cope with grief, it often helps just to talk with someone
who can listen patiently and in an understanding manner, VCHS
Hospice Manager Marilyn Winkelbauer said. Grief support groups can
be instrumental in helping people feel less isolated as they move
forward at their own pace in their own way in working through their
grief.
Despite
different losses, participants often cite that, through sharing with,
connecting and supporting other participants in the grief classes,
they benefit in working through their own grieving process.
Each
person in the group understood the pain of grieving, and we learned
that it is certainly not a fast process, but a necessary one to work
through. This group grew very close together, laughing, sharing ideas
that had been helpful with each other, Connie Felt, a past VCHS
grief support group participant, said. I would recommend it for
anyone dealing with the grieving process no matter how long it
has been or how recent the loss I encourage anyone struggling
with this process to come and try the sessions. My hope is that you
will benefit as much as our group did.
The
classes will be co-facilitated by Sally Wagner, Rolen Sell and
Marilyn Winkelbauer. If you are interested in learning more about
these classes, contact Marilyn Winkelbauer at 308-728-4315.
