NELIGH — The Antelope County Board of Supervisors has approved a 160-turbine wind farm for the area.
A Chicago-based company, Invenergy, will build the structures near Neligh. It already operates a farm outside of Elgin.
Several conditions were imposed as part of the approval. These include increased setback distances and completion of a noise analysis within 24 months after the turbines are built.
The stipulations come after opponents cited concerns about noise and distances from residents. On the other side, those in favor point to the increase in jobs and tax revenue to provide clean energy.
