In Valley Country District Court
Tuesday August 16, Judge Karin Noakes sentenced Christopher Lightford
to 18-24 months in prison for 2 charges including possession and
forgery. Lightford had been in prison in the past for theft, bad
checks and shoplifting. His attorney argued for probation but was
denied. Lightford told the judge the he was a changed person and had
moved from the county that he had trouble in the past. He also asked
for week to get his affairs in order, but judge Noakes denied his
request.
Also Judge Noakes sentenced Ray Decker
to prison for 18-24 months for charges that included driving during
revocation a class 4 felony. Decker’s criminal history and alcohol
problems played a part in his sentencing. Decker told the judge he
has a problem with alcohol and had been trouble free for 9 months. He
also told the judge he was 47 and has reflected on his life and would
not object to treatment. The judge however disagreed.
29 year old Seth Wilson of Ord was
sentenced on two charges including criminal mischief and driving
under revocation. Wilson’s attorney said Wilson has worked for three
years and was a valued employee and has two children to support. He
also said Wilson does not have a good past but believes he has a good
future. Wilson stated to the judge he would like to continue with his
life and support his family. The judge noted Wilson has been on
probation 4 times and had it revoked 3 times. Wilson was sentenced on
the first count to 6 months in county jail and his license was
revoked for 15 years. He was sentenced to 6 months in county jail on
the second charge and ordered to pay the city of Ord, $3,797.05 to be
paid within 3years of his release.
