ORD,
Neb. Valley County Health System (VCHS) will join the National
Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) and other
state/national rural stakeholders in celebrating National Rural
Health Day on Thurs., Nov. 17, 2016.
This
annual awareness day aims to showcase rural America; increase
awareness of rural health-related issues; and promote the efforts of
NOSORH and other organizations in addressing those issues.
VCHS
serves more than 10,000 residents across 75 miles in rural central
Nebraska, working to improve and promote health in our region,
VCHS CEO Nancy Glaubke said. As we join statewide and national
partners to celebrate the power of rural on this day, we
recognize that VCHS not only provides quality, diverse and
patient-centered healthcare services, but is also crucial to the
economic health of our region.
Nationally,
NOSORH is working to address unique rural healthcare issues such as
aging populations, accessibility issues and a lack of healthcare
providers.
VCHS
is not immune to rural healthcare challenges, but from welcoming
additional primary and specialty care providers to enhancing services
through technological advancements to opening numerous satellite
medical clinics, we are committed to providing accessible,
sustainable and quality care to those we serve, Glaubke said.
While
rural healthcare faces unique challenges, there are unique
opportunities as well.
Rural
healthcare providers, such as VCHS, play a crucial role in the
vibrancy and well-being of the communities they serve, Glaubke
said. From providing jobs for more than 200 employees to
generating millions of dollars worth of economic value every year, we
recognize our connection and importance in our regions overall
health.
