At the Valley County Board of Supervisors meeting, members discussed, among other topics, the continuing delays in getting repairs done at 811th Road. Also, representatives of Valley County Health System (VCHS) spoke about both finances and one of the System’s ambulances.
The Board’s Acting Chairman, Bob Sevenker, said there has been “a big increase of traffic at (the 811th Road) intersection.” The Board claims that Union Pacific Railroad, which has a crossing there, must approve of the road work. Sevenker stated that the county work fix and pay for any work to be done with regards to paving and to the crossing.
Plus, CEO Nancy Glaubke said that, year-to-date, VCHS is in the black with a gain of nearly $1.5 million. Chief Nursing Officer Vicki Bredthauer, RN, spoke of a December incident in which one of its ambulances struck a deer. The ambulance had to be taken off the road in order to adhere to terms of the warranty on the ambulance’s box. It is likely that the ambulance will be out of service for another 3 to 4 months.
