For the first time since 1987 through 1989, the Ord Lady Chanticleers have earned back-to-back trips to the high school state basketball tournament. The Lady Chants defeated the Pierce Bluejays, 48-29, in District C1-4 Championship game played at Central City High School.
Ord led throughout, taking a nine point lead at halftime, and building on it in the second half. Delani Fahey scored 15 points to lead the way for the Lady Chanticleers and Ali Smith added 11. Smith played throughout, despite picking up three personal fouls in the first half.
Ord will play Mitchell on Thursday at 10:45 am in an opening round game of the State tournament in Lincoln.
