The Valley County Board of Supervisors held its bi-monthly meeting. Topics discussed include the continual delays regarding construction on 811th Road, snow removal costs from the recent storm, and updates on proposals for work to be done at the bridge over Turtle Creek. The bridge is currently closed.
A Public Hearing was held to address One Year and Six Year Road Plans. Superintendent of Roads Jay Meyer spoke about several locations that need work, including Haskell Creek Road and Sargent Road. In addition, Meyer said presently there are 17 projects on the 6-year road plan.
Also, Meyer and County Attorney Brandon Hanson spoke about the conditions of abandoned cemeteries in the area, particularly those in Elyria, Manderson, and Vinton. The Board requested that Meyer and his staff care for these locations.
And Valley County Health System CEO, Nancy Glaubke, reported that the entire Health System is now Board Certified, 1 of only 3 hospitals in the state with that distinction. Glaubke added that the ambulance that struck a deer in December was taken to Florida last week where repairs have begun. A 30-day window was given for completion of the work. And a new ambulance, approved by the Valley County Supervisors at their previous meeting, has been ordered.
Valley County Supervisors meet again on March 14.
